THE GUN used to murder a man at a Chinese takeaway in Manchester a year ago, has been linked to six other shootings. Halton McCollin, 20, was shot in takeaway shop, China Garden in Stretford. It's believed McCollin's death was the result of mistaken identity as he had no connection with gangs or crime. The silver revolver used in the shooting was found at a house in Parrs Wood Road last May. Experts have linked it to at least six other shootings which suggests it has been widely used by different gang members. A £20,000 reward remains on offer for information leading to the conviction of his killers.
THE BANYAN TREE PUB in Hulme has been left trashed after raiders drove a getaway car through the pub window. The robbers attacked the bar manager with a baseball bat. The manager then pressed the button to close the shutters to trap his attackers inside. As they wanted to leave with money from the till, the getaway driver decided to drive through the window to create an exit. Police are urging witnesses to call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
RECYCLING BINS are to be provided to every household in Manchester. Parts of south Manchester were given bins for plastic bottles and cardboard last summer to trial. The council said the pilot was so successful it will now be extended and are they are now even looking into a system for high-rise flats.
KAKA MOVING TO CITY would be beneficial according to the manager of AC Milan. Adriano Galliani, who admitted over the weekend that he was looking to clear the club's debts. He said: “A good club should know how to settle them on their own, without running to their owners. We still have to evaluate, think hard and decide.”

This is terrible about the Banyan Tree. Mital is one of the hardest working and nicest businessmen I have met in Manchester. Hope it all sorts it's self out.
Sorry Scotee, that was an oversight and we'll slap wrists in the morning. We always acknowledge when we've restrospectively corrected. Thanks for pointing out both errors.
Lavinia- No doubt it was their friends and family who were involved..?
Awful to hear about this raid on the Banyan Tree. Mital and his team are so hard working, lovely and welcoming. They have really helped envigorate the area and provide much needed facilities for local residents. Hope everything is ok and let's show them our support by visiting their fantastic bar.
notice how the editors added the word "bat" to the story above making all the first comments at the top seem unfounded? hmmmm a little underhand with out a message of acknowledgement you naughty people! -tehe
love it!
Bring back capital punishment. These thugs deserve to be publicly humiliated infront of all their friends and family and made to pay back the cost to everyone they have involved in this horrible incident. Bet they wouldn't feel so big and brave when stripped of their baseball bats and balaclavas, being pelted with rotten vegetables or even better a little public flogging.
They attacked him with a baseball?, those vicious thugs should have the bookmark thown at them.
Attacked with a baseball? Should I call the police next time somebody throws a ball at me? I may be about to get mugged! Or if somebody comes at me with a squash racquet demanding money it might be a protection racquet?
