Wednesday 17 December: Unusual use of a bin, Andy Kershaw is suspended, and Droylsden goes dark

Published on December 17th 2008.

A SEVERED HEAD has been found in a wheelie bin in Crumpsall. The rest of the body was found inside the house on Parkhill Avenue. The victim is Patrick McGee, 63, a popular and well-known figure in the local area, who had lived in the house for half a century. He was described by his brothers as “a kind and gentle man”. The police have quickly moved to arrest a 31-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

FORMER NETWORK radio DJ Andy Kershaw has been given a suspended six-month prison sentence after breaching a restraining order banning him from contacting his ex-partner. He has to attend anger management, drug and alcohol courses. The Rochdale born presenter, famous for his broad Lancashire accent, was jailed earlier this year for contacting Juliette Banner, in the Isle of Man.

THE MANCHESTER CAROLS has returned to the Royal Northern College of Music tonight and tomorrow. This is an original retelling of the Christmas Story by Manchester based award-winning poet Carol Ann Duffy, with music by Sasha Johnson Manning.

GREATER MANCHESTER footy team Droylsden will battle it out with Chesterfield for the fourth time in one of the most unusual ties in FA Cup history. The first match was abandoned due to fog with Droylsden leading 0-1. The second was a 2-2 draw with Chesterfield letting their opponents score after the former team had netted whilst a Droylsden player was injured. Last night the third match was abandoned due to floodlight failure with Chesterfield leading 0-2.

Thanks for spotting that about Droyl-thingy. Problem is that not a single one of us has ever been to Droylsden. The editor said he went there once for a game of Manchester darts but then it's our Christmas do today and people are saying all sorts of thing.

ARGH no, not celebrity gossip! Please leave that to heat and other such high class publications, don't become a tabloid

pmsl! not as good as yours though eh! I think you have some social problems of your own never mind Droylsden!

zabzyDecember 17th 2008.

Droylsden borders Clayton, Openshaw & Newton Heath and although it does have some social problems of its own, this can often mean that Droylsden can be prone to a crime "spill-over" from these areas of Manchester...... in other words its a sh1t hole. If you dont think its a **** hole then you need to get out of your narrow box!!

zabzy says..“ Who cares how Droylsden is spelled, its a complete dump”It's still short of a good few things for the "complete" to be truely vaild.

Anonymous, celebrity gossip is made up crap by crap magazines and tabloid papers. The celebrity news here is hard-cutting, factual and highly informative. I was wondering where Patrick McGee had gone and now I know. You obviously weren't talking about Andy Kershaw as he hasn't been famous for years ;)
