SAINSBURY’S is to launch its first in-store doctor’s surgery at their supermarket in Heaton Park. Local GP’s will work from a consultation room at the store on Monday and Thursday evenings as well as Saturdays. The new surgery is part of a £126,000 6-month pilot scheme by Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale primary care trust to provide extra medical care. The Sainsbury’s service will be the first of its kind in Britain.
A MULTI-FAITH school proposal in Oldham has been scrapped. Plans for the school which had the backing of Christian and Muslim groups, have been dropped by education bosses who have said they would prefer a college or university to sponsor the school.It was hoped that the school would help to ease racial segregation in Oldham.
MANCHESTER GROUP Take That did well at the Brit awards last night, scooping trophies for best British live act and British single. On taking to the stage at Earls Court to take their awards, Jason orange said: “We appear before you bruised and battered, but dead chuffed.We are so honoured.”
MANCHESTER UNITED can be beaten according to striker, Karim Benzema who scored the goal for Lyon in the 1-1 draw against United last night. He told uefa.com: “United were big favourites but we showed we can compete with them. Even if we know it'll be tough, we believe we can do it. United are one of the biggest clubs in Europe, yet they are the ones going home feeling happy with a draw.”
