THE CONSERVATIVES HAVE DECLARED there will be no more speed cameras if they win the next election. Shadow transport secretary Theresa Villiers said a Tory government would refuse to fund any new fixed cameras, and would block councils from installing them if better alternatives were available. “Labour's army of speed cameras is not the best way to make our roads safe…a Conservative government will not fund any new fixed speed cameras”, she said.
ELEVEN RANGERS FANS HAVE APPEARED IN COURT over the football violence that ravaged the city centre. Around 150,000 Rangers fans travelled to the city for the Glasgow club's match with Zenit St Petersburg in May 2008. Two of the eleven men, who have all been charged with violent disorder, have also been accused of assaulting police officers. They have all been granted bail and will appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on 20 November.
POLICE HAVE ARRESTED TWO MEN in connection with the theft of equipment stolen from Noah And The Whale. The gear - including vintage guitars, brass instruments and a drum kit - was taken from a car park in Trinity Way, Salford, on 30 September. Two men, aged 31 and 40, were arrested after an amplifier was discovered at a house in Salford.
X-FACTOR SENSATION JLS will return to Manchester to switch-on the Trafford Centre’s Christmas lights. The band, who failed to win last year’s talent show, will perform their chart-topper ‘Beat Again’ at the 29 October gig, with more acts yet to be confirmed.

The town centre ones are lit on 12/11/09 - I do not know who is doing it (my system of second to last x-factor winner makes it Leona Lewis, so they probably need a new system?)I do not know about the trafford centre, I don't usualy bother with them.
