Tuesday 28 October: Uluru raided, changes to the c-charge and Take That play to play at Old Trafford

Published on October 28th 2008.

A CHORLTON BAR has been raided. Four men escaped with a safe and its cash contents, after using bricks to smash their way into Uluru on Barlow Moor Road. The men threatened staff and demanded money, before escaping in a black Golf GTi car. Det Cons Louise Howarth of West Didsbury CID said: “This was a particularly frightening incident for all those involved, however no one was injured.”

CHANGES have been proposed for Manchester's congestion charge. The amendments include a 20% discount for low paid workers, no charge for those with medical appointments and a reduction on the daily rate from £10 to £5. The changes to the proposals are to be considered on Friday.

TAKE THAT have announced they will be touring again next year. The Manchester dates will be held at Old Trafford Cricket Ground Friday 26, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June 2009. Lancashire County Cricket Club’s Commercial Director Geoff Durbin said; “Securing such a fantastic act as Take That is a major coup for us and considering their huge popularity and also the Manchester connection.” Tickets go on sale on Friday 31 October.

CARLOS TEVEZ is convinced that United can repeat last season's success and be reigning champions of England and Europe. He told MUTV: “I think we have the squad capable of retaining the trophy. Whether we host teams here in Manchester or away we are capable of giving anyone a game and of beating anyone in the competition.”

Not to suggest anything nefarious round the houses (!), but since that private security firm turned up I don't think there's been any repeat raids since last year.

Are there are any bars left in Chorlton that haven't been done over?
