A RABBI OFFERED COCAINE FOR SEX, Manchester Crown Court has heard. Rabbi Baruch Chalomish, of Upper Park Road, Salford, rented an apartment where he could "relax and have a party". The party was thwarted when police raided his flat and discovered a total of 101 grams of cocaine and more than £17,000. The prosecution said one witness claimed, “drugs were given to young women who came to the flat and that one or more of those young women may have provided sexual services". Chalomish, 54, admits two counts of possessing cocaine but denies two of possession with intent to supply.

THE NORTH WEST AMBULANCE SERVICE HAS BEEN DECLARED CLEAN after inspections earlier this year revealed its vehicles were dirty. Inspectors reported 41% of vehicles were in a very poor condition, with patients being put at risk of infection. A Care Quality Commission report confirms the NWAS is meeting regulations and the recommendations of the inspection.

MANCHESTER HACKERS HAVE BEEN HELD IN GLOBAL FRAUD PROBE after the trojan programme was used to infect thousands of computers around the world as part of a banking scam. A man and woman, both aged 20, have been questioned and bailed until March 2010 pending further inquiries.

MORE THAN A THOUSAND PEOPLE IN MANCHESTER are still viewing their television screens in black and white. Figures released this week show that, despite 40 years of colour television and the plethora of HD TVs, around 1,500 people in Greater Manchester still apply for black and white TV licences, which cost £48.
