<b>Monday 12 January:</b> Flooding in city centre, Bury director gets a Globe and Primark should be shut down

FLOODS have caused parts of Manchester city centre to be closed off. Heavy rain overnight has caused severe flooding in Whitworth Street and the road is in danger of collapsing, according to Greater Manchester Police. Officers have shut the road along with nearby Marlborough Street and Wakefield Street. United Utilities are currently on the scene but the roads are expected to remain closed for some time.

RADCLIFFE BORN DIRECTOR, Danny Boyle and his film, Slumdog Millionaire received four Golden Globe awards last night in Los Angeles. Boyle was named best director for the film which tells the story of a young Indian man looking for love and competing for money on a TV game show. “Your mad, pulsating affection for our film is much appreciated.” said Boyle as he collected his award.

PRIMARK SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN according to Manchester Central MP Tony Lloyd, following allegations that the high street chain is breaching employment and immigration laws. An undercover journalist claims illegal immigrants are being paid half the minimum wage to produce clothes in Manchester for the firm. Mr Lloyd has called for urgent action and said he will raise the issue in the Commons.

A PAIR OF FROLICKING COUNCIL WORKERS have resigned after they were caught having sex in an office window in front of a crowd of 20 onlookers. The Unity Partnership workers for Oldham Council, stopped their antics after a Police Community Support Officer spotted the crowd and interrupted them. The incident took place last August.

Im on whitworth street and cant see evidence of floods anywhere? Maybe its a typo or much further down near deansgate locks?

I saw flooding this morning near the Ritz. The road is a mess now.

The flooding was outside the Ritz i think. I think the water's gone now but there are workers digging up the road now.

I heard they found a massive hole in the middle of Chester Road.... police are looking into it!!
