Published on November 12th 2009.

A PILOT KILLED WHEN HIS AIRCRAFT CRASHED may have been under the influence of cannabis, an Air Accidents Investigation Branch report has said. A post-mortem on Niall Gover, 41, from Stockport, found a chemical derived from the active ingredient of cannabis in his blood. Although he may not have consumed the drug before the crash on Saddleworth Moor in October 2008, the report said it had to be considered as a factor.

ALEXANDRA BURKE HAS PULLED-OUT of the Christmas lights switch-on in Leeds, but will still be performing in Manchester. The singer was originally due to perform in both cities on Thursday, flying between the shows by helicopter. Tonight will see Burke, Mr Hudson and a number of other stars at the 'Christmas Lights All-Star Extravaganza Switch On', in Albert Square from 7-8pm.

The Northern Burns Care Network argued the centre, based in Manchester, would have improved care for the most serious burns victims. NHS North West, the strategic health authority, decided there was no “compelling” evidence the new centre would improve care.
