A MAN has jumped from a bridge, in front of a tram this morning near to Manchester Central (formerly G-Mex). The man, who is believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, was taken to hospital with head injuries. Police were called to the incident at 10.41am this morning. Services on the Eccles and Altrincham lines have been affected, however a GMPTE spokesperson has said that services should resume as normal once the police helicopter has taken photographs of what they consider to be a crime scene.
PICCADILLY TRAIN STATION staff will stage a one-day strike next Thursday over pay and conditions. The station is one of 17 across the country taking part in the Network Rail walk-outs. Network Rail have said that the strike will not affect passengers or train services.
A MILLIONAIRE has left most of his entire fortune to Manchester Grammar School. Dr Peter Bracewell named his former school as the main beneficiary of his £3m fortune. The money will reportedly be used to help low-income families send their children to the £9,000 a year school in Fallowfield, where Dr Bracewell was a pupil in the 1930s.
MANCHESTER UNITED have released a statement to quash rumours that Cristiano Ronaldo is up for sale. Ronaldo has continually been linked with a move to Spanish side Real Madrid this summer. However, the club reaffirmed its position to ManUtd.com on Friday morning saying the 23-year-old United star is simply “not for sale”.
