Tuesday 23 June; the five husbands of Emily, killer cows, bogus taxi horror and Dad’s Army death

Published on June 23rd 2009.

A SERIAL BRIDE has pleaded guilty to bigamy charges after marrying for the fifth time. Former glamour model Emily Horne, 30, married her fifth groom, Ashley Baker, in 2007 and only told her Oldham ‘husband’ of her other marriages on their honeymoon. Horne was jailed for six months in 2004 for bigamy, the judge describing her as “a very predatory female”. The bigamist is on bail and is not allowed to contact Baker.

A WARRINGTON WOMAN has been trampled to death by a herd of cows as she walked her dogs. The vet was pronounced dead at the scene on Pennine Way after what the National Farmers’ Union have called a “dreadful but rare incident”. It is thought the normally docile cows may have felt threatened by the dogs and turned aggressive.

A BOGUS TAXI DRIVER raped a man after following him into his apartment block. The 20-year-old man got into the cab on Quay Street on Sunday morning but when the taxi arrived at the passenger’s home, the driver refused to take payment. The rapist followed the man into the block and raped him in the stairwell of the building, in what police have called “a brutal attack that has left the victim traumatised”.

ACTOR COLIN BEAN, who played Private Sponge in Dad’s Army, has died age 82. The actor spent his last years in Wickham Hall Care home, making a public appearance at the reunion of the Dad’s Army Appreciation society last year, and died at Wigan Infirmary.

Taken from the free calendar available at This 'n' That, Soap Street, Northern Quarter. Those curry masters are so very, very sagacious. How does this wisdom rate? 7/10
