<b>Monday 28 June:</b> City stadium flooded, Lady Gaga no-show, and Samurai-wielding robber treated 'too harshly'

Published on June 29th 2009.

MANCHESTER CITY'S HOME GROUND has been flooded after the heavy downpours. The fire service was called to the City of Manchester stadium on Sunday morning to pump water from a store room and lift areas. Alan Turing Way was badly affected when part of the drainage system collapsed, causing sewage to leak onto the road.

FANS WERE LEFT fuming on Saturday when Lady Gaga failed to appear at the Take That concert. Billed as one of the support acts, fans were notified by the giant screen that Lady Gaga was a no-show leading to booing from the 50,000 crowd at Old Trafford Cricket Ground. The singer’s representatives are yet to explain the last-minute cancellation after her one-hour set at Glastonbury Festival on Friday.

POLICE HAVE DISMISSED complaints from a robber’s dad that the arrest of his son was “too heavy handed”. Michael Burke, age 28, from Stretford, was one of three men that brandished a Samurai sword and hammer when they raided a jewellers. Through a tip-off, police were lying in wait, swooped and sprayed the three armed robbers with CS gas. Sentenced on Thursday to four years, Burke’s father has described the sentence “too harsh” and complained about the “cuts and bruises” the police’s arrest caused.

A MAN WAS SHOT in the leg after an argument with three masked men on mountain bikes. The shooting happened in the early hours of Sunday morning on Odette Street, Gorton, after the 25-year-old victim was approached by the gang.

Ben - Can't ticket master reissue them to you as PDFs? You can get them instatntly that way and still go. Or arrange for you to pick them up at the box office. how hard could it be???

news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8123315.stm… - This is the official statement for Lady Gaga apparently. Im just glad I was there on Friday and missed the no show - I would have been furious.

They just seem to want to wash their hands of it all! We'd better get a refund

Ah Ben, you've discovered one of the major reasons I don't like ticketba****d. All of their tickets are controlled by barcodes, dodgy tickets don't scan, and so any fakes can't get in. Interestingly enough, the same barcode system allows them to cancel tickets fairly easily too. They could cancel the barcode on the tickets that've gone missing, and reissue them by same day courier. Your new set would work, but the old one's wouldn't. So they'd know you couldn't sell them on or give them to a mate - even if you did they wouldn't be able to get in. Course they won't do that.

This will be Lady GaGa of the Northamptionshire Gagas? If so, through her behaviour she has disgraced her ancient and aristocratic family name.

Ben, It was not you I was accusing of being hopeless on the ticket front. Ticketmaster should be able to sort you out whether you are standing or not. You have paid for the things, it's not your falut they haven't been dispatched correctly. They are gits! I can't believe they charged me £4 delivery charge last month for Print your own tickets (they email you a PDF!!!), they are insane!

I'm sure you've asked.. but can they not just put your name on the guestlist?

I was at the concert on Sunday when she was again supposed to turn up. When tickets were booked there was no mention of who was supporting the boys, so it was 'pot luck' who joined them along with Gary Go. The Script returned for Sunday night after receiving a last minute call and returned back to Old Trafford - true stars who really appreciate fans old and new!! Take That were, as ever, absolutely amazing

Didn't she do some kind of extra set on Sunday, at Glasto? Sounds to me like she just wanted to stay at Glastonbury for the weekend.

BenJune 29th 2009.

I'm just praying she cancels tonight. Me and a friend were meant to go, however thanks to the daft bint's at ticketmaster, our tickets didn't arrive and they're now "launching an investigation," into the courier company who swear blind that they delivered them....

She's overrated...saw her on Jonathan Ross and I think she tries too hard to be abit weird...

AnonymousJune 29th 2009.

Believe me she wasn't missed... 50,000 people were there for only one thing, to be entertained by Take That... and entertained they were.

Lady Ga Ga is a complete disappointment, she definitely didn't look sick on Friday when she was performing at Glastonbury, but I am pleased to say all was nearly forgotten when Take That appeared on stage on Saturday night as they were out of this world. But not one to bear a grudge I can safely say Lady Ga Ga has been deleted from my playlist from now on.

BenJune 29th 2009.

No - unfortunately, because they were standing tickets theres something in the terms and conditions about not being able to reprint or anything. We're not retards - we did try every available option when speaking to them, it's just a no go

DidsburyGirlJune 29th 2009.

I didn't hear that - however she is meant to be playing tonight isn't she? Is she still too hungover-I mean Ill for that too?

LozJune 29th 2009.

I was there last night and believe me, Gaga was the way we became watching The Script and especially the lead singer. They were absolutely brilliant and fair play to them putting on another fantastic show. Up the Dubs! And of course, TAKE THAT WERE ONCE AGAIN SUPERB.
