Thursday 22 January: C-charge plan B, burglaries increase and static rapper gets fined

Published on January 22nd 2009.

MORE OF US ARE GETTING BURGLED, according to latest police figures which say the number of burglaries in Greater Manchester has risen by 15% in the last 12 months. Burglaries between July and September 2008 saw a rise of 711 on the previous year. Asst Ch Con Dave Thompson said: "It is a fact that one in three burglaries happens because houses have been left insecure.”

C-CHARGE PLAN B IS UNDERWAY. Transport officials discussed the case for resurrecting funding for the region with MPs in London this week. However, the government are adamant that any bid for the £2.75bn would have to include some form of congestion charging system.

A 46 STONE MAN, died five days before he was due weight loss surgery. James Aitken, 49, from Droylsden was going to have the 'gastric balloon' surgery at Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle but died from respiratory failure caused by obesity. Mr Aitken was supposed to have his surgery back in June 2008, but when Tameside Hospital stopped performing the operation, he was put back on a waiting list.

A MANCHESTER-BASED RAPPER has been fined for standing in the same place for too long whilst legally street hawking. Elavi Dowie, 31, had a permit which allowed him to sell his music on Market Street but a law states that traders must only stand in one place for 20 minutes before moving on. Manchester City Council have reportedly spent £3,000 on the case against Dowie which he has branded 'ridiculous.'

ManCon you are wrong. The transport Plan B does not have to include some form of congestion charge. It has to include some form of traffic management, and there are money options for that. How about a tax on workplace parking instead? Whisper it not in original modern Manchester but Nottingham is well down this road.

Maybe Ken Wyatt and Slueth could team up to correct this lack of attention to burglarers by touring the streets and snapping em.

On the development where I live we had about 10 burgularies in less than a month on the run up to christmas, the police drove around twice a day for three weeks and nothing has been done about it since. Doesn't make any of us feel particularly safe.

Asst Ch Con Dave Thompson said: "It is a fact that one in three burglaries happens because houses have been left insecure.”Yet it is also a well known fact that 3 out of 3 burglaries are caused because the plods do NOT give a whistling poop.Where's the money in running around cold dark streets when you can sit in a car and catch juicy motorists?T#ssers in daft hats, and NO I ain't just been done.

transporter i have a document in front of me now highlighting the fact that we have to give details to the local council on parking spaces and the number in our building with the view of a tax in 2012
