GREATER MANCHESTER HAS ONE OF THE WORSE figures in the country for the number of uninsured drivers, according to an accident compensation firm. The Motor Insurers' Bureau, which compensates people in accidents with uninsured drivers, estimates over 1.7m people drove without cover in 2008. The study found that over 10% of drivers in Greater Manchester did not have cover. The MIB’s chief executive described the figures revealed by the research as "staggering".
A YOUTH OFFENDING TEAM has been criticised over the “disappointing” quality of its work. An HM Inspectorate of Probation report said their July inspection found inconsistencies in the quality of assessments by the Bolton team. Andrew Bridges, HM Chief Inspector of Probation, said, “Overall, we consider this a disappointing set of findings”, adding a “substantial improvement” needed to be made.
A JET2.COM WORKER HAS QUIT OVER THE RANT his boss made against him and his colleagues. Stuart Love, 27, said he was astounded at the way he and his colleagues were spoken to by Philip Meeson, chief executive of Jet2.com, and has quit his job in disgust. Police warned Mr Meeson under the Public Order Act after he launched into a foul-mouth tirade against his check-in staff.
ILLEGAL MEDIACITY WORKERS HAVE BEEN JAILED for six months, after being charged with using fake documents. Manchester Crown Court heard how the eight African men used fake passports to dupe their employer, Connolly Construction, who will face no further action. The men will be deported at the end of their jail-term.

I don't know what the Jet2 guy said, but apparently the long queues of passengers waiting to check in cheered him.
