Wednesday 22 October: Naked burglar stuck in Tesco's breast, bakery filth fined and Celtic see Red

Published on October 22nd 2008.

A NAKED MAN has been arrested on suspicion of burglary after police found him trapped in the chimney of a Tesco Express store. Police were called to the store on Ormskirk Road, Pemberton, at around 5.30am this morning. There, they rescued the man from the chimney breast. Police believe some his clothes came off as a result of him struggling to get out of the chimney. A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and is currently in police custody.

ONE OF BRITAIN'S WORST DRIVERS has been jailed after being disqualified 54 times. Anthony Lee Marland, 39, from Ashton-under-Lyne is serving a four-month sentence for what Road safety campaigners describe as blatant disregard of the law. Judge Andrew Lowcock said at Minshull Street crown court: “This is one of the worst records of driving I have ever seen. Court orders don't seem to mean anything to you.”

A BAKERY in Eccles has been fined £3,000 for hygiene offences. Laws, on Parrin Lane were found guilty of six hygiene and two health and safety offences, including a dirty delivery van. Inspectors took action after finding cobwebs under stainless steel tables used for storage of cakes, a tub of yeast covered with a dirty towel, and staff using dirty equipment.

MANCHESTER UNITED manager Sir Alex Ferguson is all smiles after their win over Celtic last night. Dimitar Berbatov scored two goals in the 3-0 Champions League match. Ferguson said: “ It was fantastic, a marvellous performance from Dimitar again.”

Very disappointing to see 6 arrests made out of the very small number of Celtic fans.In fact, I believe that this signifies a larger proportion of arrests per total fans than was the case for the so-called Rangers "riot".Police had to seperate Man U and Celtic fans, and we again had the distasteful episode of Celtic fans singing songs in support of the IRA in the 83rd minute of the match.Very disappointing indeed. Also rather surprised by the Match Commander praising Celtic fans " ... braved the night in a windy and wet Manchester ..."Was he there?Doesn't speak much of the GMP when they don't know if it's raining or not.And that they don't care if visiting fans sing pro-IRA songs in a city where people were killed by their bombs.

Rochdale Red.LOL. Tell us all your login name on Follow Follow. If I could be bothered I would find this identical comment that was posted previously re Rangers fans."On Tuesday night my husband and I witnessed the absolute dregs of humanity in full flow in and around Manchester city centre. I refer of course to the Rangers support. Boorish, foul-mouthed, abusive chanting, urinating...If you want to attempt to drag down the reputation of fans who are welcomed throughout Europe to the level of your own, the least you can do is try to come up with something original.Anyway, I'll leave you to your pre-coordinated attack on what was a demonstration on how fans should behave at away matches.

Rochdale, I have clear memories of the Celtic fans running riot at Ewood, and made the same promise to myself. In fact, if they ever come to Blackburn again I'm getting out for a few days.

Apologies Jon. It would appear that, not for the first time this year, you've been invaded by the 'hun' in full throated hate 'Timmy' mode.

Football fans. The really good thing about Manchester Confidential is that more people who read it seem to love food and culture than idiot football and the idiots who rant about it.

You can try and deny and deflect all you like lad but I wintnessed it with my own eyes. A sizeable number of the Celtic supporters who visited the city on Tuesday are the lowest form of animal life. And it's not for the first time either.

Cheers Blackburn. They're bloddy vermin, I'm sorry but it's the only way to describe them. We all have our idiots, United too, but that lot seem to be 100% idiots. I watched one of them punch an old man just 5 minutes from the stadium. The bampot that hit him was about 25 years old and urinating/flashing his wedding tackle in front of the old chap's granddaughter. When the old lad told him to behave himself, he was promptly punched by the Celtic idiot. Only the intervention of other fans stopped it getting really nasty.

"Aln Bill says..“ Very disappointing to see 6 arrests made out...."Strange that this exact same text appears word for word on one of the more, shall we say, fundamentalist Rangers websites.Surely somebody isn't attempting to slur the reputation of Celtic fans with devious intent?

I don't know what on earth you're going on about Celt, but I'll tell you this - you're not bloddy welcome in Manchester. Don't come back.

I am a City lad and have been for over 20 years and obviuosly dont care much for either side but after May when the police and local councils failed to deal with large crowds even after it was obvious early doors that most of Glasgow was heading our way, imagine my dismay when travelling to friends in the city suburbs at being confronted with Scottish based morons who want to sing songs praising boms in my home city????

Laughable really that the ONE poster who claims to know who everybody else is .. is the only poster using the name-term "Anonymous".If some other site quotes me then I can only suggest that anybody looking at the posts must realise that mine is the original, since I didn't copy anybody !!The awful truth is that for all the trouble that occurred with over 150,000 Rangers fans and "others" in the UEFA Final, they at least had the good grace to act like football hooligans, rather than terrorist-supporting thugs. It is incredible to think that these are the same Celtic fans that come down to Manchester and sing in support of the IRA, who were so terribly affronted when a humorous gibe was made about them "going home".They really ARE a detestful gang, their history blighted by support for Nazism, terrorism, covering up child abuse in their boys club, the worst racist incident in Scottish sport when they threw bananas onto the pitch at Mark Walters, and their vile songs of ethnic cleansing in NI.Celtic ARE Scotland's Shame. And every time one of their fans comes on here they show it more and more.

On Tuesday night my husband and I witnessed the absolute dregs of humanity in full flow in and around Manchester city centre. I refer of course to the Celtic support. Boorish, foul-mouthed, abusive chanting, urinating all over the place in full view of women and children, throwing punches at pensioners and of course the usual putrid chanting for their IRA heroes. We both decided after Tuesday we will not be visiting Old Trafford again when these ghastly beings are in town.
