COCAINE-FUELLED RAMPANT RABBI is ordered to do 60 days of community work. Rabbi Baruch Chalomish, 54, of Salford, admitted one count of possessing cocaine and was found guilty of a further count of possession at Manchester Crown Court. The multi-millionaire rabbi, who admitted spending £1,000 a week “on the best cocaine in town” and sleeping with prostitutes, was also made subject to a six-month supervision order and ordered to pay £3,899 costs.

FUJITSU STAFF TO BEGIN STRIKE ACTION over the firm's plans to cut 1,200 jobs, freeze pay and an end to a salary pension plan. Employing over 12,500 staff across the UK, Fujitsu workers in Manchester will be part of the strikes by Union members. The union’s national officer, Peter Skyte, said, “Our members would prefer not to strike, but feel strongly that Fujitsu is not listening to their genuine concerns and that enough is enough.”

PENSIONER HIT BY SCHOOL COACH HAS DIED after being trapped under the vehicle. The 89-year-old man was believed to be crossing Lever Street in the city centre at 4pm on Wednesday when the accident with the Volvo coach happened. Doctors at Manchester Royal Infirmary were unable to save the pensioner because of his serious, multiple injuries.

THE FIRST FLURRIES OF SNOW FELL IN MANCHESTER LAST NIGHT, with more snow set to fall over the weekend. Forecasters predict sleet on Saturday, when temperatures struggle to rise above freezing, with a second bout predicted to hit the North West at the start of next week.
