THE BATTERED COD has an imposter according to the owner of the chain of fish and chip shops. Owner, Frank Afsarpur says one of his regular customers came in to his Ladybarn take-away in Fallowfield and congratulated him on opening a new shop. He investigated the 'new shop' and found it to be a chippy on Burnage Lane using the same name, colour scheme and even copying the love hearts instead of dots above the 'i's in 'fish and chips'. Mr Afsarpur has owned the trademarked chain for 24 years.
ROYAL MAIL WORKERS are refusing to deliver British National Party election leaflets. Staff in Greater Manchester are accusing Royal Mail of breaking their 'conscience clause' by telling them that if they choose not to deliver BNP leaflets, they will not be allowed to deliver any political leaflets. Staff say their clause allows them to refuse to deliver literature they find offensive.
PARKING FEES AT PICCADILLY STATION are reportedly the highest in the country. The union for people in transport and travel says motorists are being ripped off with charges of up to £55 for a four-hour stay. Network Rail have said that the car park is aimed at short stay users.
THE DIDSBURY CRATER is back. The 8ft by 6ft and 6ft deep hole, which appeared on Barlow Moor Road almost three weeks ago, reappeared on Friday night. Engineers from Manchester city council and United Utilities are on site, investigating why the road has collapsed again. Diversions are in place.

Clearly the state of the raod works in the centre of town was making East Dids jealous, so they stamped on it untill it collapsed? Or shoddy workmanship, even the worst of workmen should be able to make a repair last more than a month?
This 'n' That wisdom is incomplete. It should go on......'that way, when you do pass judgement on him, you're a mile away - and you've got his moccasins!'
I'm just guessing here, and this isn't much of a technical viewpoint - but I think the road has collapsed because of shoddy work by one of the councils oh so very talented workmen that certainly don't spend more time tossing about than actually working.
I used to live on the corner of Pine Rd and Barlow Moor (spitting distance from The Hole). The roads around there (Pine esp.) are terrible; I was asked by a few cab drivers if Pine Rd is private, given the state of it.
