FOOTBALL MUSEUM WILL DEVELOP MANCHESTER’S CULTURAL LANDSCAPE, a trustee of the Urbis has said. Writing on Manchester Confidential, Manchester City Council’s Executive Member for Arts and Leisure, Cllr Mike Amesbury, said: “The National Football Museum at Urbis will draw upon the excellent work of the creative team to continue to explore popular culture. The story of football, social history, contribution to fashion, music and politics will be some of the many exhibit themes that will celebrate the Urbis legacy.”

SOUTH MANCHESTER HOSPITAL ONE OF THE WORST IN THE COUNTRY by a report that has been branded ‘grossly misleading’. The Dr Foster Guide 2009, which uses ratings based on ‘safety indicators’, put the University Hospital of South Manchester among the bottom because of the number mortalities and ‘foreign objects’ left in patients after surgery. The hospital has previously been in the top 10 of the guide because of its low mortality rates, saying the picture painted will be one patients will not recognise.

A VIGIL WAS HELD AT THE CEMETERY where Muslim graves were vandalised for the third time in two months. The Unite Against Fascism peace vigil took place at Southern Cemetery on Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton, after police said they are treating the attacks last week as racially motivated.

MANCHESTER CITY CENTRE DELUGED BY SANTAS raising money for charity. Over 800 runners donned Santa outfits yesterday to take part in the inaugural Co-operative Santa Dash in aid of the deafness and hearing loss charity RNID's Hear to Help service.
