Thursday 19 March: Congestion cash gone, anti-BNP pledge and Liam Gallagher to launch clothing range

Published on March 19th 2009.

THE £3bn PACKAGE that could have transformed Manchester's transport system, has been withdrawn completely. The overwhelming 'no' verdict for a congestion charge means the city will be denied the cash, despite pleas from campaigners to increase funding for other schemes. Works and Pensions secretary and MP for Stalybridge and Hyde, James Purnell said: “The whole point was that the government said they would put in that funding based on the congestion charge.”

COMMUNITY LEADERS have signed a pledge at Manchester Cathedral opposing the British National Party at this year's Euro elections. Party chairman Nick Griffin will stand in the North West. The Bishop of Bolton, Bishop of Middleton and Dean of Manchester have vowed to “oppose the racist and fascist BNP who stand to undermine 'our' Manchester”.

LIAM GALLAGHER has become the latest celebrity to jump on the clothing range bandwagon. But the Oasis star insisted it wasn't just a cash cow: “I'm not here to rip anyone off, I'm doing it cos there's a lack of stuff out there that I would wear.” The new range called “Pretty Green,” will be launched in June. A SKELETON discovered in Collyhurst could be checked against dental records and a DNA database to confirm its identity. A passer-by first spotted the remains on Monday night, which lie close to a primary school playground. Forensics are still searching the scene for clues but police chiefs have warned the investigation “may take some time.”

This 'n' that wisdom*: Be wary of extremes: The green and the overripe fruit cause the worst pain.

*Taken from the free calendar available at 'This 'n' That, Soap Street, Northern Quarter. Those curry meisters are so very very sagacious.

That prettygreen link has got me in trouble in work. It's blocked as it's showing as BLOCKED; CATEGORY; PORNOGRAPHY. Head office will be on the phone shortly asking me to explain myself. Again.

Church Leaders condemning the BNP is really quite amusing, British laws have been moulded around Christian values and the liberal clergy are destroying those values on a daily basis.Gay Marriage, gay adoption, paedophile clergy, all condoned by these liberal immoral church 'Leaders' all the BNP are attempting to do is return our country to decent family values. It is no wonder that churches are closing down and being turned into mosques in ever-increasing numbers. It is neither immoral nor racist to want to see the survival of ones own culture.

Here we go again, so called-Church leaders interfering in politics. The Dean of Manchester needs to take a close look at the situation his ever dwindling flock face. Labour Minister Shahid Malik MP predicts a Muslim run country within 30 years. Check it out on YouTube. Then take a good look around, Church closures everywhere and Mosques springing up all over the country. The Imams must be laughing their collective socks off at the stupidity of Jewish and Christian 'leaders'. The LibLabCon trio have sold Britain out. No-one ever asked for mass immigration and the predicted Muslim takeover at Number 10. Future generations will ask why their parents generation said and did nothing to stop the introduction of the backward Sharia Law. If Nick Griffin is elected it will at least offer a glimmer of hope that we as a nation can avoid this disaster.

Bit late to add to the news section, but the MIF is looking rather tasty...I think Poots will pull his end right off once again. Kraftwerk at the Velodrome anyone?

Well said Mr Adams. I really expected loads of comment on our church 'leaders' political interference. Perhaps the deafening silence, well ok, rants, is because everyone knows you are right.

Well, now that we have put that £3M package to bed, what about the £3BN one we all voted on?
