MANCHESTER CITY has agreed a deal to sign former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez. The 25-year-old Argentine forward, who left Old Trafford last month, will sign a five-year deal subject to a medical. Manager Mark Hughes said the Tevez signing “shows the commitment of the owner to make this club the very best it can be." The Argentinean could re-visit his old club at the Old Trafford derby on 19 September, making him one of only a few players to play for both clubs.
RAIDERS ARMED WITH HAMMERS targeted the watch counter of a 150-year-old family jewellery shop, Prestons of Bolton. Police said security features at the store meant the gang were locked in and had to smash their way out. None of the 15 workers in the store or customers were injured.
