TWO RUNAWAY children, have been caught swinging from the rotar blades of a police helicopter at City Airport Manchester. MANCHESTER'S Co-operative Group is in talks about buying supermarket group Somerfield, in a £1.7bn deal. The Co-op reportedly hopes to get the deal with the Bristol-based supermarket finalised by the summer. The corporate deal would be the biggest in the Co-op's history, adding 900 stores to its empire.

EDUCATION WORKERS in Manchester have said that naughty children shouldn't be punished for their bad behaviour. The findings by social enterprise firm Motiv, suggest that unruly children thrive off being told off and that more attention should be paid to rewarding improved behaviour with incentives such as music vouchers.

MANCHESTER UNITED are preparing to take on Blackburn at Ewood Park on Saturday. Defender, Rio Ferdinand expects the match to be one of the most demanding of the season. He told manutd.com: “Blackburn are a physical side, but they're not dirty. It's not guaranteed we’ll come away with three points. Blackburn always lift themselves against us, and in recent seasons there have been quite a few goals in our games. Hopefully that's the case again, although we’ll want to be the ones scoring all the goals.”
