BRITAIN'S FIRST TELEVISED ELECTION DEBATE TO KICK OFF IN MANCHESTER: Brown, Cameron and Clegg to go head-to-head and face questions from a live audience of 200 in 3 90-minute sessions, also taking place in Birmingham and Bristol. Debates will focus on domestic policies, international affairs and the economy. 76 strict rules are in place to ensure best behaviour from the public. Dates have not been finalised but mid-April has been pencilled in.

LAST OF THE MOORS VICTIMS ‘LAID TO REST’ AT MANCHESTER CATHEDRAL: a memorial service for Keith Bennett, victim of 1960s moors murderers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, is to be held in Manchester Cathedral on 5 March at 11am. The Bishop of Manchester will preach; Winnie Johnson (Keith’s mother) will speak publicly to thank those who have worked so hard to find her son’s body. The public are welcome to attend.
