Murder arrest after woman found dead: A 57-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of killing two women. The bodies of the women, age 34 and 57, were found at a house on Holdgate Close, Hulme, at 7.20pm yesterday. The area has been sealed off while forensic teams search the scene. Inquiries are ongoing and a post-mortem is due to take place later today.
False advertising gets TV company fined: DM Digital Television Limited has been fined £17,500 for advertising a spiritual healer who offered to find love for viewers. An investigation was launched by the Advertising Standards Authority after a viewer who had visited the spiritual healer complained. Professor Mohammed Zain was paid £1,510 by the viewer but did not deliver the 'prince' he had promised.
Water sculptures come under fire: The oversized seaside sculptures in Oldham are being labelled a waste of money. They include a giant plastic bucket and spade, sand, a ship's anchor and a treasure chest. Authorities of the cash-strapped council just told thousands of staff that their salaries would be slashed by up to £16,000.
5000 fare dodgers caught in four months: New figures reveal that 5,000 people were caught dodging fares on the Metrolink in the first four months of the year. Almost half of them are being prosecuted through courts. The dodgers were caught by Travel Safe Officers who have been taking part in other operations like 'SuperVortex', a joint operation with the police to target anti-social behaviour in Sale town centre.
