SIR RANULPH FIENNES IN STOCKPORT CRASH: The oldest Briton to climb Mount Everest was driving on the A6 in central Stockport when his Jaguar swerved into the opposite lane, colliding with two vehicles. Sir Ranulph was not seriously hurt but appeared dazed. Two suffered minor injuries. Police are appealing for witnesses. Sir Ranulph climbed the world's highest peak in May 2009 to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

FOUR POLICE OFFICERS SUSPENDED OVER KIDNAP OF 5-YEAR OLD IN PAKISTAN. Officers allegedly ignored 999 calls after an armed gang kidnapped Sahil Saeed in Jhulem, Punjab last Wednesday. The abductors, suspected to be close to the boy's family, are demanding a £100,000 ransom. His mother Akila Naqqash has made a direct appeal for the boy's release from her home in Oldham. A senior police official has said that they are thus far 'clueless' about the kidnap.

NAKED VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR LOWRY TRIBUTE: Spencer Tunick, photographer famed for his mass nudity works, most recently in Sydney and Helsinki, has been commissioned to photograph 1000 local residents in the buff in eight mystery locations across the city. Can't wait.
